Bob Lynd, a founding board member of the pantry, passed away on July 13th. Those of us at the pantry truly mourn his loss. Bob’s character, integrity, and grace made a great impression on the people who knew him. Volunteering was a life-long passion for Bob and he was a valuable contributor to the pantry during its opening year. Bob was also active in other areas of our community such as the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department, the Gum Spring Library, Boy Scouts and the Loudoun County Election Board. We will miss Bob’s leadership and guidance and our condolences go out to Bob’s family. As an expression of our thanks to Bob and his work at the pantry, current Board members have donated $265 towards the Backpack program in memory of Bob. Donations, which will be used to sponsor students in the program, can be mailed to the pantry “In Memory of Bob Lynd”. The Arcola Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) is also accepting donations in memory of Bob. For more information on how to honor Bob with your donations, please contact email@example.com.
