After we moved out of the Pantry with the help of many hardworking volunteers and JK Moving, the contractors wasted no time getting to work tearing down the walls in preparation for all the magic to happen.
July 2021 Update: We are SO EXCITED to share that construction for our renovation has begun – it is finally happening! We are hopeful to be back in our “home” in the Fall. Thank you to ALL of the contractors for their patience and sticking with us on this project – we know it has been a long time coming! And, many thanks to the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department for hosting us and to our donors who continued to bring food to our temporary space. We are so grateful we could remain open and operating to feed those in need.
August 2021 Update: Walls continue to be removed, framing has begun, new door frame being built, overhang removed, office is coming along, and the old red carpet is gone!
September 2021 Update: We received our plumbing permit, so our plumber could get working on our new galley kitchen layout. Landscaping was cleaned up, including removing and trimming shrubs and bushes. Our building was power washed – pretty! Additional framing was added for our walk in refrigerator and freezer. Back doors are now installed. Electrical wiring is started and our new HVAC system has been installed!
October 2021 Update: Outside trim was painted, draywall installed and a fresh coat of paint for both the Pantry and Gathering Room!
November 2021 Update: Flooring delivered and installed, new sidewalk poured, walkways refinished, parking lot smoothed, kitchen cabinets and sink installed and sod laid. Everything is coming along quickly!
Late November 2021 Update: Interior walls painted, table storage closet constructed, signs updated, Pantry logo added to doors and food moved over! Thank you for all of the manpower to make it happen!
Thank you for your time, talents and donations!
